As a 23-year Air Force Physicist, JJ learned the hard way that being a great scientist does not automatically mean being a great leader: Leadership is a skill that must be learned, especially when leading interdisciplinary and multi-generational teams.

Have you ever wondered why there are so many unqualified people in leadership positions?
Have you ever wondered why there are so many underqualified people in leadership positions?
It’s not because they’re better or smarter than you (they’re not). They’re better at building key relationships and communicating value.
The most skillful and effective way to communicate the value of your work and advocate for your team with non-technical leaders who control resources is through stories that evoke emotion, not data.
You'll learn time-tested public and professional speaking tips from the John Maxwell Team that will immeiately increase your effeciveness both preofessianally and personally.
This bootcamp grew out of JJ Conway’s lesson for her technical military leaders called “Don't Lead Like a Physicist.”
JJ explains how technical leaders can get more done, free up their time, and increase their team’s respect of, and confidence in, them as leaders with the practice of coaching.
Coaching can be defined as helping an individual develop his or her ability to solve his or her own problems through the realization that he or she already possesses the answer. One of the greatest benefits to coaching is that, even if the employee develops what may not be the “best” answer through a coaching session, the process of thinking through coaching questions helps the employee become more self-sufficient. This is why coaching is a foundational practice of High Performing Teams. This introductory session teaches simple coaching strategies that can immediately be implemented in any organization.
Because the field of coaching is unregulated and has attracted a large number of coaches with little training who confuse coaching with mentoring, training, consulting, or even counseling behaviors, there is also a section on what to look for in implementing a more formal coaching program.
“A leader is not the one with the most followers. A leader is the one who creates the most leaders. – John C. Maxwell”
Janine “JJ” Conway is a financial planner who empowers individuals to dump debt and build lasting wealth through financial and business education and coaching. She’s served in the Air Force for over 23 years. She returned from a 6-month military trip to discover her house sold and most of her belongings thrown out. That week she signed divorce papers and not only became a single mom, but also had to figure out how to deal with over $845,000 in divorce debt. The personal growth and financial skills she used to overcome these life-gut-punches are the same skills she teaches today. They’re simple. They work.
JJ is passionate about helping people change their lives through time-tested financial principles, personal growth, and leadership enhancement. As a John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Trainer, and Coach, JJ brings a personal touch to corporate training and especially enjoys coaching clients to achieve their dreams! JJ’s classes, seminars, and books on life and finance will empower you to reach your goals, as will her money and investing classes.
